Sometimes the nicest decorations are the ones that don’t need much fuss. These candle planters are exactly that - quick to make, lovely to look at, and ideal for bringing a gentle festive glow into your home. Pop one on its own for a subtle touch, or group a few together for a bit more impact.
This idea (and the lovely images) come from the wonderfully creative @lifeinthewolds.
1. Grab a Pot
Any pot will do. @lifeinthewolds has used our bestselling Milston planters here - they start from just £10 and have a lovely rustic look - but honestly, whatever pot you’ve got at home will work just as well.
2. Fill with Gravel
Pour in some gravel or small stones. Nothing fancy - just enough to weigh the pot down and give the candles something solid to stand in. Level it out so the candles sit straight.
3. Add Candles and Moss
Push a few taper candles into the gravel until they’re snug and steady. Then tuck some moss around the base to hide the stones and soften the look.
If you’d like to add even more interest, pop in a few seasonal finds - thistles, dried leaves, conkers, tiny pine cones… whatever you’ve picked up on a walk or already have at home.
And that’s it. A simple, natural decoration that feels wintry, welcoming, and easy to make with just a handful of bits.
A big thank you to @lifeinthewolds for the idea and the lovely images. Do check her out for more seasonal styling inspiration - she shares so many beautiful, doable ideas.
